.::Of Love and Luck {Gelus}::.

“There was always one human whom Gelus loved more than Misa-Misa. Her name was ________. Oh, and how Gelus loved to watch over this young woman. He enjoyed how she brushed her hair, and the way she slept at night was just so adorable to him, though he was a shinigami.

“He loved her. He really did.

“Then, one day, she was going to die. Some lonely, odd man who’d just lost his job and got drunk approached her when she was in a local convenience store with a gun in hand. He didn’t go straight for the register, he went to her, took her money, and then ordered her to strip down. The man raped her and then held the gun to her head, he said he was going to shoot her. Gelus panicked and, with nothing more to do, scribbled the man’s name down in his Note. The man died of a heart attack and she was saved, but Gelus transformed to dust and rust and who-knows-what and his Death Note rightfully became hers. I was there, I saw it all, and Gelus entrusted me to bring this Note to you.”

Rem silenced after the end, staring down at the girl before her with emotion-filled eyes. The girl looked as if she was about to cry. “S-So that’s how I got this Note? And because I got this, because I existed, Gelus didn’t save Misa Amane and she died too?” Rem nodded again.

“Gelus loved you more than the one he loved most.”

She fell to her bed and cried, crushing the Death Note to her chest and hugging the death out of it. There were no names she had written inside, only memories and the handwriting of Gelus the shinigami. Only the name of the man who was going to kill her that fateful day…
